Monday – Rest Day

Kept control of after dinner snacking – had a bowl of Milo cereal and a couple of snakes....not too bad considering what I’ve been eating in the last few weeks

TuesdaySwim

Doh !! Had to happen, my back/shoulders/neck area have been itching to go ‘ping’ over the past few weeks so at 3am this morning I rolled over and BAM !! – there goes something in my back !!

I get pretty bad neck tweaks every now and then but haven’t had one in ages but this was lower down and mid shoulder blade....popped some nurofen and went back to bed. Looks like the swim had to be canned

Got up at 4am and no way was swimming going to happen, back was way too sore – still had movement but felt like someone had whacked be square in the back. Nurofen obviously kicked in so got up and got ready for work and another rest day....hate to say it but I actually missed going for a swim !

Physio booked for tonight to see if he can tweak it a bit – not too bad now (mid morning) and hopefully won’t stop my ride tomoro morning which I really need to hit. Canned physio as back came good by about 3pm so fingers crossed

Wednesday  Bike

Must do session this morning that I had no problem getting up and down to work (30 min drive) to be rolled out at 4.50am...RTR with 3 Burke Drive efforts and twice up Reserve St
Then me usual down to Shelley Loop, had a awesome tail wind on the way back and was flying...scarily fast...order some of that for race day !

Watch bloody reset itself as I hit the stop button !! doh !!

Glanced past the wardrobe and had to go get my phone to take a pic of my shoes all getting together......all these, plus my race pair missing and 2 pairs in the garage as garden/working shoes...........bloody triathletes and our @nal worrying about if a shoe is past it’s use by date because it’s done 499.9k of mileage..... eat your heart out Imelda

Thursday – AM Interval Run PM - Swim

AM – Run

This is un-believable..17 weeks and now my run decides to kick in with a stitch 2k to go from finish. Had to actually stop and dig my hand under my rib cage..and bloody walk

My morning routine no different so who knows what the hell was going on, did get a couple of stomach cramps about 3 mins before stitch hit

200’s and a 800TT

dist – 3.0k
time – 1:05

Friday – Swim

PM – Swim

Chucked in due to Tuesday’s bad neck/back....not a believer of making up sessions but be good to get another swim in for this week

Hopped out after 2 x 1k TT’s – plenty lane space but got bored and figured I needed to get home for my own sanity....

dist – 2.0k
time – 0:40

Saturday – Long Ride

dist – 142k
time – 4:45
avg speed –  31km/h
avg hr – 129
max hr – 155

Met up with Daz – rolled out at 6am, RTR again and out to Roe Hwy.... Good ride with Daz’s mate James keeping a decent pace at the front.......they rode away a few times and I was happy to keep my own pace

After 17 weeks of training got first puncture...this about 2 mins after James flatted and we all stopped

Freeway south we saw PJ on his way back, got to Thomas Rd re-fuelled and turn back for home I drafted a little as there was a slight head wind. Had a chump half wheeling me near the Narrows (had no idea where he came from – cheap wheel sucker) politely told him to fook off....don’t mind if they have to cheat and draft but to half wheel someone you don’t know is don’t right rude

Back thru the city and felt strong when we finished....good confidence builder

Sunday – Long Run

A few beers on Saturday night and late to bed after going to see the Jezabels at the Astor Theatre decided to have a little lay in, up and sorted kids and out the door at 9am.

Went thru the motions up to Jindalee and back again, felt really strong and confidence was up that run form is coming along nicely

Back, pool dip for the legs, showered then off to Shell’s mum’s for lunch for her birthday. Shell made a fantastic lasagne which I made a complete pig of myself...followed by meringues and choc mousse !! ....oh yeah tasted soooo good !! ......excused myself and sat and watched the Texas Ironman on one hd got me a little inspired !! Very slick production with Phil Liggett doing the voice over

dist –23k
time – 1:55
avg hr – 136
max hr – 151

Home for the arvo, movie with Shell in the home theatre (Crazy Stupid Love with Steve Carroll – bloody good movie) another weekend done...

Aiden checking out what’s going to go on Santas list..

4 weeks to go and I’m starting to get those feelings of anticipation....tho’ I can feel it’s going to be a long 4 weeks......next week is a pretty full diary, easy midweek ride/brick session, long run (if 1hr 45 is still classed as long !!)....and one last hit out planned for Sunday -- 120k/6k brick to finish off......

Countdown has begun..........

Cheers

Paul
