Paul's Bio

Paul – aka The Rat by fellow riding chums

Personal - 41, married with 3 kids

Work - Project Manager for an engineering drafting company

History - Approx 8 years in triathlon, numerous half distances and one full distance way back in 2006 at a time of 11.43

IM Goal – Just to finish and hopefully in daylight -- in 06 daylight saving kicked in on race day so had a few hours grace ;)

Expectations - Pretty excited about starting training, but also know that excitement will absolutely drop off after the first four weeks and be a full on issue mid way thru the program

Plan - Will be following similar template plan from 06 and will try and throw in some fast stuff in there too, not really concerned with hitting specific training numbers – just know that if the work can be done in the next 5 months then on the day, it will/should look after itself

Kudos - Full respect to Daz who trains like a machine and is the most self motivated person I know. And, am also excited for PJ with his awesome new coach, he’ll hopefully get to the start line fit and ready and cross that finish line for his first Ironman

– it will certainly be a special day for all of us. Bring it on !

Welcome to our Blog

We've decided to start a record of all the things that come along with the journey that is an Ironman, including training logs, thoughts, fears and general p!ss takes (we don't take ourselves too seriously)

We are Paul, Darin & Peter - aka The Rat, Daz (Dunger) and PJ. We're fathers, husbands, full time employees and part time triathletes

We'll let you work out who's who on the picture above, Rat is a tiny bit taller than PJ and Daz is the tallest

Hopefully we'll keep this upto date most weeks, it will be more about keeping each other honest with our training numbers...we've done something similar in a group on facebook for a half ironman, also Darin has a Ironman blog from 2007 http://weeksoftruth.blogspot.com/ so we're kinda hoping it will inspire us and anyone else along the way. Plus - hopefully a great little record to look back on in a few years

So enjoy, feel free to comment and following will be a short blurb on each of us to set things up...
